How to Merge PDF Files in the Right Order
To merge PDFs, choose the source documents, arrange their order, select the pages you need and export a new combined file. Check the result's page count and the boundary between each source. A merge joins pages; it does not automatically correct orientation, remove private content or compress a document.
Plan the sequence before exporting
List the documents in reading order before opening a merge tool. A cover letter, report and appendix generally need a deliberate sequence. Physical PDF page positions start at 1; they may differ from printed page labels such as i, ii or Chapter 1. Confirm selections against the actual document.
If you need only part of a source, select those pages before merging or extract them into a separate file. Within a selected group, Flekify retains source order. Entering 5,1 selects pages 1 and 5 rather than reversing them.
Example: cover plus report excerpt
For a two-page cover and a ten-page report, selecting cover pages 1-2 followed by report pages 3-5 produces five pages. This is easy to verify: inspect output pages 2 and 3 to confirm the source transition. An unexpected count often points to a mistaken range or an unwanted source file.

1. Keep the original files and confirm that each opens in a PDF reader.
2. Add the source PDFs to a merge tool and move them into reading order.
3. Select any required page ranges, using physical page positions. Leave the selection empty only when all pages are intended.
4. Export a new PDF. In Flekify, a merge accepts 2 to 20 input files with up to 2,000 output pages.
5. Open the downloaded file, check the total page count and inspect the start, end and every source boundary.
What merging does not preserve or solve
Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked in an appropriate application before this workflow. Rewriting a document does not preserve digital signatures; keep the signed original for workflows that depend on its signature. Review interactive elements and document-level features in the receiving application rather than assuming every source feature survives a page copy.
Merging does not perform OCR, redact content or guarantee a smaller file. Rotate sideways pages separately. A file with fewer pages may still disclose information on the pages you kept, so review the actual content before sharing.
